What a Wonderful Time of the Year!
I cannot believe I am closing out 2023 already. I always love this issue, its filled with all the fun Holiday Happenings, Holiday Movies from our readers and, no holiday issue would be complete without a recipe or two! Plus, want to throw a Grinch Holiday Party, we have a few ideas to make it extra Grinchy. Check our holiday happening section.
This month Nancy L. Rommelmann, Family Law Attorney shares Muses for the Holiday Season 2023, Christine Zuehlke’s has some Swoonworthy Holiday Finds, and you can find all about the history of River Oaks when you climb aboard the Houston History bus. In our Culinary bites column, We’re announcing the Coffee Fellows First Drive-through location in Katy.
Finally, I cannot print this issue without expressing my heartfelt love and gratitude to Deryl McKenzie AKA Santa. He has graced the cover of this magazine many times since 2006. He was not only a friend to Swoon, but I considered him a part of my family. Having met in 1995 when he was the City of Houston’s Santa, we have worked together through my television days to my publishing days. Whenever I needed a Santa, he showed up for me both professionally and personally… sometimes just for the joy of my children. Last month, Deryl passed away after a lengthy illness of a series of health-related issues. I will always believe in Santa, and to me, Deryl McKenzie is the true-life Santa that will always come to mind.
Have a wonderful Christmas or Hannukah
and an equally wonderful New Year!
Sincerely,
Lara Bell
