Getting your diet back on track doesn’t have to be complicated. In fact, use this time to your advantage! You are home and able to control the recipes, foods, and snacks without that temptation of happy hour or a night out. If you tend to snack from boredom, focus on other things you can invest your time in that don’t involve food. Some awesome suggestions are taking walks, picking up a hobby such as yoga, reading a book, or having a family game night.
Secondly, stick to the basics. Make non-starchy veggies the star of the show! Choose high-fiber, low-glycemic carbohydrates and high-quality, non-processed protein sources for the rest. Nutritious foods don’t need to be boring. Add some sweet and spice to up-level vegetables and meals so you never get bored!
Lastly, skip the sugary beverages, especially when paired with alcohol. A soda or a mixed cocktail can add 120-300 calories per drink alone. Instead, switch to a no-sugar-added drink mix like Swoon for your homemade cocktails and utilize Splenda and Monkfruit for taste.
Just remember to give yourself grace, and don’t over complicate it. Small changes over time make a huge difference and will ensure its sustainable!
