There are so many different ways to dye or decorate eggs for Easter and SWOON is going to show you a few of them. These EGG-citing ideas turn dyed, hard boiled and faux Easter eggs into something EGGstra-special using sharpies, tissue paper and other crafty materials.
Rice Shake Eggs
Start with 6-12 hard-boiled eggs, making sure they are dry. Pour about 1 cup of rice into a Ziploc bag. Add 7-10 drops of food coloring. Stir with a spoon. Put the egg inside and let the kids toss and shake! Take out and let dry. To keep clean, use gloves or tongs to remove the eggs.
Shaving Cream Eggs
Start with 6-12 hard boiled eggs. Spray shaving cream (foam not gel) into muffin tin. Place several drops of food coloring into each tin. Mix with a cotton swab. Gently set the eggs in the cups, swirling several times, until completely coated.
Quick & Easy Spray-Painted Eggs
After the boiled eggs are cooled, place eggs back in the carton with bottom end facing up. Spray just enough to cover the bottom. Don’t spray too much. The paint will dribble down the sides.
Tissue Paper Eggs
Use faux Easter Eggs. Tear pieces of tissue paper. Apply Mod Podge to a section of the egg and adhere piece of tissue paper. Keep adding Mod Podge and more tissue paper. Allow to dry for 20-30 minutes and add another layer of Mod Podge to seal. Allow to dry. Display in a basket to enjoy all Spring!
Sharpie Pen Dotted Easter Eggs
When the eggs are cooled, place a sticker on the egg. Using a pen, make dots around the edge of your sticker. As you work away from the sticker make your dots less concentrated. Use as many colors as you want. Allow time for your colors to dry before removing the sticker.
