A Place for Peanut, Inc. is a non-profit horse sanctuary and equine therapy foundation. The organization is dedicated to rescuing horses, donkeys and miniature horses from being slaughtered; while bringing joy to children and veterans in hospitals through its special programs and therapy.
Founded by Megan Cardet in January 2016, A Place for Peanut has saved more than 150 horses and donkeys. Cardet’s goal is to raise awareness about kill pens in order to rehabilitate and adopt out equines. Many have become a part of the equine therapy program.
A Place for Peanut, Inc. invites everyone to its 2nd Annual Gala on Friday, August 17, 2018 at the Kirby Ice House from 7 – 10 p.m. At the event, Honorary Chair Michelle Maresh along with Gala Co-Chairs Christine and Steve Johnson will welcome guests to a fun-filled evening with bites and beverages along with live entertainment provided by Houston’s legendary Scott Gertner Jazz Band. Casey Curry will serve as the Master of Ceremonies and the organization will honor Michelle Mantor, Houston PetTalk Magazine’s Publisher and Editor-In-Chief, for her work as an animal activist for over 15 years.
Guests will have the chance to meet two miniature rescue horses from the sanctuary and place their bets in a live and silent auction. Houston abstract artist Ann Marie Vancas will paint “live” a piece of artwork that will be auctioned during the event. All proceeds from the evening and auction will help A Place for Peanut continue saving and rehabilitating horses.
