The new school year is getting close. Many Katy families have a special tradition that helps kick off the school year, getting it started in a fun and memorable way. We talked to some Katy families and asked about their traditions. Read what they had to say… and who knows, You might be inspired to start a new tradition of your own!
Plus, operation Back to school is already back to school.
Compassion Katy, a 501c(3) nonprofit, is fundraising and preparing for their second annual Operation Back 2 School (OB2S) event. Everyday their team is pressing forward to gain financial sponsorship and preparing to greet 3,000 students and their families on August 4, 2018 at the Merrell Center in Katy, TX.
Katy ISD has identified the students and families who are the most in need of the resources and services our event provides. Each student received a personal invitation to attend the event.
“The goal of Operation Back 2 School is to partner with Katy ISD, our nonprofit partners, and neighboring businesses to provide services, tools, and resources plus backpacks and school supplies [to the children and families who need it the most,” said Sue Hetrick, Compassion Katy Executive Director. “When these kids attend this event, they are provided everything they need for a successful school year.”
Compassion Katy is also a member of the Katy nonprofit coalition. Each of these nonprofit partners attend and provide access, resources, and tools for items such as immunizations, food, clothing, furniture, counseling, and so much more.
